2025 KBF GRANT APPLICATION REQUESTS UP 24%
The Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) announced today that it has received 47 grant applications for its 2025 grant funding cycle. This robust response (24% increase from 2024) demonstrates the continuing need for legal aid and justice initiatives throughout the Commonwealth.
The KBF, celebrating its 67th year of service to Kentucky, will review applications from organizations seeking to address critical legal needs and improve access to justice across the state. Grant recipients will be announced at the KBF Annual Luncheon on June 6, 2025, during the Kentucky Bar Association's Annual Convention.
"The number and quality of applications we've received reflect both the tremendous need in our communities and the innovative work being done by organizations throughout Kentucky," said Susan Duncan, President of the Kentucky Bar Foundation. "We are honored to support these efforts that make meaningful differences in the lives of Kentuckians."
Making a Difference Across Kentucky
KBF grants have historically provided vital support to programs serving Kentucky's most vulnerable populations:
- Veterans receive assistance with benefits claims, housing issues, and employment matters, helping those who served our country transition successfully to civilian life.
- Children benefit from court advocacy programs, educational initiatives about the legal system, and specialized legal representation in dependency, neglect, and abuse cases.
- Families gain access to domestic violence prevention resources, family law assistance, and mediation services that help resolve conflicts and create stability.
- Wrongfully convicted individuals receive support through innocence project initiatives, giving hope to those seeking justice after miscarriages in the legal system.
- Rural communities access legal aid services that would otherwise be unavailable in underserved regions of Kentucky.
A Proud Legacy of Service
Since its establishment in 1958, the Kentucky Bar Foundation has awarded over $5 million in grants to organizations that promote justice and legal education throughout the Commonwealth. This impressive milestone has been achieved through the generosity of Kentucky lawyers, judges, and other supporters committed to equal justice under law.
"For nearly seven decades, the Foundation has exemplified the legal profession's commitment to public service," noted Duncan, KBF Executive Director. "The continued support from members of the bench and bar enables us to fund innovative programs that truly change lives and strengthen communities across Kentucky."
The Foundation's work is sustained through annual contributions, endowment gifts, and special fundraising events that bring together members of Kentucky's legal community in support of equal justice initiatives.
Grant recipients for the 2025 cycle will join the ranks of numerous organizations that have used KBF funding to create lasting positive impacts throughout the state.
