Inaugural Chief Justice John D. Minton Award to Honor Charles E. English

Bowling Green Attorney Charles E. English to Receive Inaugural Chief Justice Minton Award

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Community members and businesses are invited to join the Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) as it honors attorney Charles E. English with the inaugural Chief Justice John D. Minton. Jr. award. This award honors the career and legacy of Chief Justice John D. Minton, Jr., and his work to improve the legal system and make it more accessible and efficient for all Kentuckians. The award is given to a Second District Kentucky attorney who embodies Chief Justice Minton’s outstanding character, professionalism, and commitment to promoting and advancing the fair and impartial administration of justice in the Commonwealth.

 Our first Minton Award will honor Charles E. English for his outstanding contributions to the legal community. He has served as a member of the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Board of Governors and served as chair of the finance committee. He is a former member of the ABA’s House of Delegates and the ABA’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. He served on the Kentucky Supreme Court and Court of Appeals Judicial Nominating Committee and served as a member of Kentucky’s Judicial Campaign Conduct Committee. He is a life member of the Judicial Conference for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. English is a past President of the Kentucky Bar Association. He actively contributes to his community. He served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of the Kentucky Historical Society.

 All proceeds will benefit the KBF, which serves as the charitable arm of Kentucky's legal community. Organizations in South-Central Kentucky that have received KBF support include Barren River Area Child

Advocacy Center, Family Enrichment Center, Equal Justice Works, Legal Aid Society, Advocacy & Support Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Programs, Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, Inc., Western Kentucky Refugee Mutual Assistance Society, and Kentucky YMCA Youth Association.
