Kentucky Bar Foundation Executive Director Embarks on Western Kentucky Tour

The Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) is pleased to announce that its Executive Director, Susan Duncan, recently conducted a week-long tour of Western Kentucky, visiting key cities including Paducah, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Henderson, and Owensboro. This tour aimed to strengthen connections with local bar associations, potential grantees, and legal service providers while promoting the Foundation's mission and initiatives.
Tour Highlights:
**Paducah**: Duncan meet with the McCracken County Bar Association delivering an ethics Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentation focused on fraudulent schemes to obtain client funds. She will be back in Paducah on November 19 to honor W. David Denton at the 8th annual Judge Johnstone award dinner.
**Hopkinsville**: Hopkinsville attorney and KBF board member, Jack Lackey, arranged a meeting with a past KBF grantee, the Sanctuary, to discuss the great work it does addressing violence against women and to explore further opportunities for collaboration and support.
**Madisonville**: Duncan stopped by to visit attorneys Randall Teague and J. Keith Cartwright. Attorney Cartwright was named the KBA 2024 Distinguished Lawyer at the annual convention and the KBF honored him with a donation to CASA of Midwest Kentucky. Attorney Teague has been very active in the local and state bar associations.
**Henderson**: Duncan taped a radio show with Judge Leslie Newman on WSON, set to air on October 11th, highlighting the Foundation's work and impact in Western Kentucky. Duncan also stopped by to say hello to a 2024 grantee, Involvement, Inc. to thank them for their important work assisting with home incarceration and drug testing. She enjoyed meeting County Attorney, Steve Gold, and discussing restorative justice initiatives the KBF previously funded. Before heading east personal injury attorney Curt Hamilton, Henderson County Bar Association’s President and best city ambassador, introduced her to many of the city’s wonderful points of interest!
**Owensboro**: The Daviess County Bar Association hosted a luncheon, bringing together multiple providers addressing juvenile drug addiction and mental health issues in their community. Duncan shared with the group information pertaining to the grant cycle (opening in January) and encouraged them to apply.
Throughout the tour, Duncan, expressed gratitude to Western Kentucky attorneys for their continued support of the KBF and engaged with new donors to further the Foundation's mission.

"We're excited to engage with local legal communities, share knowledge, and explore new ways to support access to justice initiatives across the region.
