Call for Nominations for the 8th Annual Judge Johnstone Award!

The Kentucky Bar Foundation is seeking nominations for the 8th Annual Judge Edward H. Johnstone Award from members of the 1st Supreme Court District. This award honors distinguished attorneys for their commitment to public service, work to build the public's trust in the justice system, and efforts to improve access to justice for all people, regardless of income level or background.

KY IOLTA Fund Awards $1,045,000 in Grants!

The Kentucky IOLTA Fund is pleased to announced that it awarded $1,045,000 in grants in September 2023. The state's four civil legal aid programs (AppalReD, Kentucky Legal Aid, Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, and Legal Aid Society) received a total of $1,000,000. The state's three law schools received a total of $45,000 ($15,000 each) for public interest fellowships.

The Board of Directors of the Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) is pleased to announce that it awarded $250,000 in total grants this summer. The Kentucky Bar Foundation awarded $260,000 in 2019 at its annual Fellows and Partners for Justice Society Luncheon in Louisville on June 13, 2019 in conjunction with the Kentucky Bar Association's Annual Convention. The Foundation has awarded more than $3.5 million since its grants program began in 1988. Thanks to the generosity of Kentucky attorneys and judges, the 2019 KBF grants will support 32 nonprofit organizations as they work to provide access to justice and law-related education across the Commonwealth.

Guion L. Johnstone has been named the Executive Director of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and Kentucky IOLTA Fund, effective December 30, 2016. Johnstone is an attorney from Lexington. Raised in Paducah, Johnstone received her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Transylvania University, where she majored in Psychology and Spanish. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work.
