Kentucky Bar Foundation Welcomes 23 New Fellows

The Kentucky Bar Foundation proudly welcomed 16 new Life Fellows and 8 new Fellows at its annual Fellows and Partners for Justice Society Luncheon on June 22, 2017 in Owensboro. The KBF Fellows Program recognizes members of the Kentucky Bar who have shown support for the KBF's mission through their generosity in contributing the KBF. Thanks in part to the generosity of the following new Fellows and Life Fellows, the KBF was able to award $265,000 in grant awards - its highest amount to date - to nonprofits across the state:

KBF Grant Applications Available January 6, 2017

The Kentucky Bar Foundation’s mission is to further the public’s understanding of the judicial system and the legal profession through programs and philanthropic partnerships that help those in need.  One of the ways that the Foundation serves this mission is by awarding annual grants to law-related organizations and projects.  The application period for the Foundation’s 2017 grants will be open from January 6, 2017 through March 15, 2017.  To be eligible for grant consideration, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Apply for a grant on or before March 15, 2017

Kentucky Bar Foundation and Kentucky IOLTA Fund Welcome New Executive Director

Guion L. Johnstone has been named the Executive Director of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and Kentucky IOLTA Fund, effective December 30, 2016.  Johnstone is an attorney from Lexington.  Raised in Paducah, Johnstone received her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Transylvania University, where she majored in Psychology and Spanish.  She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work.  While in law school, she was the Executive Editor of the University of Louisville Law Review…

Kentucky IOLTA Fund Awards $365,000 in Grants

Kentucky Bar Foundation Awards 2016 Grants

Kentucky IOLTA Fund Awards 2015 Grants

The Kentucky IOLTA Fund is proud to announce that it awarded a total of $1,063,260.54 in law-related grants during the 2015-16 fiscal year.  The Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (“IOLTA”) Fund was established in 1986 by the Kentucky Supreme Court through SCR 3.830.

KBF Hosts 2015 Fellows and Partners for Justice Luncheon

During the KBA Convention, the Kentucky Bar Foundation held its annual Fellows and Partners For Justice Luncheon on June 18th at the Hyatt Regency in Lexington.  The luncheon was attended by approximately 200 guests.  At the luncheon, new Fellows and Life Fellows were recognized.  The Paducah law firm of Washburn Key & Lowry was also recognized for its $5,000 major gift to the Foundation.  Grants in the total sum of $251,500 were awarded to various nonprofit organizations from across the Commonwealth for law-related programs or projects.  This marks the highest amount ever awarded in the history of the Foundation.  Executive…
